Preston set to dazzle at the Christmas Lights Switch-On

The decs are up, Santa is checking his various lists, and the lights are about to be switched on!

It can only mean one thing… that Preston is gearing up for its biggest free event of the year as the much-anticipated Christmas Lights Switch-On illuminates the city on 23rd November.

Thousands of people will descend on the iconic Flag Market in the heart of the city centre to kick off the festive season in style, with a spectacular evening of entertainment and dazzling displays.

Funded by the city centre businesses through Preston’s Business Improvement District and proudly sponsored by Lancashire supermarket Booths, Preston City Council, and Street Monkeys, the event promises to be a memorable celebration for all.

Highlights include over two miles of vibrant, super-bright, low-energy lights, with stunning animated displays adorning the Flag Market and Friargate. The festive light installation has been co-funded with Preston City Council, ensuring a truly magical atmosphere for visitors and residents alike.

With one of the strongest line-ups for years, revellers will be dancing along to Do It Like Dua and nostalgic favourites Clubland Reborn, singing along with genuine soul superstars The Drifters, as well as home-grown talent, Preston’s own Kimberley Fox and hotly tipped next-big-thing, Halfmark!

And of course, the big man will be there – and there might be an appearance from that mistletoe misery, the Grinch!

Corrie star, Mikey North, who’s appearing at the event, said: “Preston’s a great city, I have no doubt people are going to turn out in their droves, as usual, as we launch Christmas in the city together.

I’m looking forward to seeing everyone on the day; we’ll definitely be getting in the Christmas spirit with a brilliant show lined up for everyone”.
