Piano recital by Royal Grammar appointment

Friends of Lancaster Royal Grammar School (LRGS) are delighted to welcome back the celebrated pianist Martin Roscoe for a recital at the school, his second in two years.

He will perform on Friday, March 21 at 7.30pm at the Assembly Hall, Lancaster.

His forthcoming performance at LRGS promises to be another unmissable event, and it will include Mozart Fantasia in D minor K.397; Beethoven Sonata Quasi Una Fantasia in E Flat Op.27/1; Brahms Fantasies Op. 116 Nos 1,2,3,4 and 7; Beethoven Sonata Quasi Una Fantasia in C sharp minor Op. 27/2 ‘Moonlight’; Chopin Fantasy in F minor Op.49.

Martin’s distinguished career includes performances with the UK’s leading orchestras, including the BBC Philharmonic, Hallé and Royal Liverpool Philharmonic.

He has worked with many eminent conductors, including Sir Simon Rattle, and performed r across Europe, the Far East, Australasia and South Africa. He has made seven appearances on the BBC Proms and is one of the most regularly played pianists on BBC Radio 3.

His latest recording is The Complete Solo Piano Music, Vol 2 – Hyperion by Dohnányi.

International Record Review said it ‘shows Roscoe at his most dazzling, employing a huge dynamic range and changes of mood as swift as they are convincing.

‘It would be difficult to overpraise his accomplishment.’
