Opera North behind the scenes

Opera North is taking part in an online collaboration between seven of the UK’s top companies, providing an unparalleled insight into how opera is brought to the stage.

The ambitious Inside Opera: Live will combine live streamed and filmed footage to give viewers a chance to experience opera across the UK from the inside, offering unprecedented behind the scenes access and interviews.

It will be streamed live on YouTube at www.youtube.com/insideopera from Opera North’s base at Leeds Grand Theatre on Saturday May 10 from 2pm to 6pm.

Fans can use #insideopera to put questions live via Twitter to the companies’ artistic directors.

Opera North will appear in rehearsals of La Boheme, due at The Lowry, Salford, from Wednesday to Saturday May 14-17, and directed by Phyllida Lloyd going back to her roots after hugely successful excursions into cinema direction with Mama Mia and The Iron Lady.
