My new favourite takeaway

I’ve been ordering curries for years and I’m very fussy about what I get.

And I can honestly say few have been as all-round delicious and satisfying as the recent meal we had delivered from Indian Express.

From behind an unassuming facade on Fylde Road in Preston lies a business which has been crowned the North West’s best Indian takeaway, as well as winning good reviews online.

It’s not hard to see why.

I ordered the midweek meal deal for two (available Monday to Thursday) for a very reasonable £14.99. This includes two main dishes, two rice, one naan, four papadums and two dips.

The quality of the chicken rogan josh and chicken vindaloo shone through straight away.

The food oozed quality as well as taste - giving the whole experience a natural, almost healthy vibe.

All the food was on the spicy side but the spices and herbs added a real depth of flavour that could be savoured mouthful by delightful mouthful.

The rogan josh boasted a wealth of taste with the different layers and ingredients evident in the final product. The vindaloo was likewise very good and not just a vehicle to blow you away with spice and heat.

The chicken in both curries was tender and the pieces were massive.

We added on two side dishes, saag aloo and bombay aloo, on to the order at £3.99 each. Both were very delicious and came in generous portions.

My only criticism is that the saag aloo could have had more spinach but this is just a matter of personal preference and a minor quibble.

The online menu at Indian Express is extensive and includes pizza, burritos and beer. You can also pay by card online - how much more civilised can you get than that?
