The exhibition will be held at Leyland Civic Centre this year on August 10 and 11, and the event has announced that the club will be premiering a new layout.

Formed in 1988, the Leyland Model Railway Club celebrates a Silver Jubilee Exhibition, after running model railway events for the past 25 years.

Previous years have seen the ‘Burnbeck’ N gauge and ‘Newtown’ OO gauge layouts created, and the new one, ‘Heatherly’ will also be a N gauge.

Steve Walters, exhibition manager, said: “It’s our 25th year together so we want to show the best model trains have to offer.

“We have 13 different layouts ranging from N gauge which is the smallest to G gauge which is the biggest.”

The lettered gauges N and G measure the length and size of the railway trains, offering a wider variety at the event.

An area has been set aside for the younger generation to operate “playmobile” trains, and food will also be provided on site by the Leyland Civic Centre Restaurant.

The venue will open at 10am to 5pm on both days and has disabled parking near to the entrance.

Ticket prices start at £5 per adult and £4 per child and a family ticket, 2 adults and 2 children, costs £13.

Club nights for members are on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7pm to 10pm.
