Global solo star James Blunt is looking forward to appearing at this weekend’s Symphony at the Tower outdoor spectacular.

The singer with the haunting voice, famous for his worldwide Number 1 You’re Beautiful, will be appearing at the two-day event following the massive success of his latest album Moon Landing and hit single Bonfire Heart.

James Blunt, who has sold nearly 17m albums and 20m singles worldwide, said: “I love being out on the road and playing in new places, so it will befantastic to perform for the first time in the Preston area against the backdrop of the Lancashire countryside.

“I’m really looking forward to performing tracks from my latest album at the gig in aid of St Catherine’s Hospice.

“As well as hits from Moon Landing, people can expect all the old favourites as well as a few surprises in what’s bound to be an amazing night – all in aid of a wonderful local charity.”

Symphony at the Tower will take place this Friday, July 4, and Saturday, July 5, once again in the stunning surroundings of Hoghton Tower.

The event is organised in aid of St Catherine’s Hospice, the Lostock Hall-based charity which exists to help patients and their families enjoy the best possible quality of life in the face of a life-limiting illness.

The hospice is once again working with promoters Cuffe and Taylor to host this year’s event, following the success of last year’s first two-night ‘Symphony’.

James Blunt will appearing on Friday night during the pop concert part of the event, with the nation’s favourite classical crossover artist Katherine Jenkins OBE appearing on Saturday night.

Supported by regular collaborator Anthony Inglis and the National Symphony Orchestra, Katherine will be performing a selection of favourite classical hits.

Lorraine Charlesworth, Director of Income Generation at St Catherine’s Hospice, said: “We’re more excited than ever about this year’s Symphony event, which this year marks its 19th anniversary.

“The first pop night with The Human League and The Christians was fantastic fun last year, and we’re sure James Blunt and Katherine Jenkins will pull out all the stops to ensure another brilliant weekend of music and entertainment in a fabulous spot.

“We welcomed lots of new faces to the Symphony last year and we hope we can build on that again this year.

“We hope the star status of these amazing artists will open up the event to more people, raise more money to support the work of St Catherine’s and give our wonderful supporters – many of whom have attended the Symphony since the beginning – a real night to remember.”

Cuffe & Taylor’s concert director Peter Taylor said: “James Blunt has been a global superstar for the last decade and we are delighted that he is coming to perform at Hoghton Tower and help raise money for St Catherine’s Hospice, which is such a worthwhile cause. There is great demand for tickets and it promises to be a spectacular event in spectacular surroundings.”

Katherine’s appearance at Hoghton Tower is part of a series of three special summer outdoor concerts she is performing, which also include Singleton Park, Swansea, on Sunday, July 27, and the Junction 16 Festival, near Crewe in Cheshire, on Sunday August 10.

Katherine said: “I’m looking forward to my summer concerts in Lancashire, Swansea and Cheshire.

“There’s not a more perfect way to spend a summer’s evening than outside with family, friends and music.

“It will be such a treat to perform in these unique spaces.

Prices for Katherine Jenkins are £36.50 (day before concert), £40(on the day), with VIP tickets at £149, all plus

booking fee.
