Lancashire screenings of pioneering documentary films

The Dukes in Lancaster will continue its Film Lab project later this month with a pair of pioneering documentary films.

Film Lab is dedicated to screening artist-led films, and gives audiences opportunities to watch films made by both established and up-and-coming new talents.

Letter From Siberia and Sunday in Peking(15), right, which will be shown on March 18, are early films from the pioneering writer, photographer and documentary film director Chris Marker.

The films of Frenchman Marker tend to focus on themes of human encroachment on the countryside and the nature of memory.

Both use the travelogue format to present lyrical and
philosophical portraits of Siberia and Beijing.

Letter From Siberia and Sunday In Peking will be screened in The Dukes gallery on March 18.

For tickets priced £4, contact the Box Office on 01524 598500 or www.dukes-lancaster.org.
