Joan stops in on global goodbye
Iconic singer-songwriter Joan Armatrading has embarked on her first – and last – solo world tour, and Lancashire will be a stop on her way.
In 42 years of touring the St Kitts-born British star has never taken a solo show around the globe and later this year that journey will take her to The Muni theatre in Colne, on the 27 September 2014.
Armatrading’s first single came out in 1972, her first album almost 40 years ago, and she went on to become the first black British female singer/songwriter to enjoy international success over the course of that decade.
This first ever full-scale solo tour will showcase songs that span her entire career.
She said: “I will never retire, but this will be the last major tour I will undertake. For the first time, these concerts will be me solo on stage playing and singing.
“I want these concerts to be a special lively interactive one-to-one experience.”
