Harp on about Monkey magic at Continental

Drawing heavily on the culture of northern working class life, the storytelling trio are one of the most novel bands in contemporary English folk, and will play at the pub on the Ribble at Broadgate on Friday June 27.

They are already a firm 
favourite of Radio 2’s Mark Radcliffe, who hailed their “intriguing blend of electronics and ramshackle” folk.

Mixing tradition and modern they sing of universal 
issues – Old Wives Tales, the slow death of Northern industry, days out with sand filled butties...

Harp and a Monkey mix 
traditional folk instruments with electronica, meaning harp, viola, guitar, banjo, glockenspiel and more go head to head with crunchy electro beats and backgrounds.

All wrapped up with a stage presence that never fails to raise a smile, Harp and a Monkey celebrate real heroes in songs like Men Digging Holes and Walking in the Footsteps of Giants – about those who led the Kinder Mass Trespass, then went to fight fascism in Spain.
