Harmony from a war zone
The Boyan Ensemble, which is the travelling section of the Revutsky Academic Male Capella based in Kiev, Ukraine, will visit St Mary’s Church in Kirkby Lonsdale, on Saturday October 10 as part of an extensive British tour.
The choir will perform a programme of sacred chants in the Eastern Orthodox tradition as well as Ukrainian folk songs of joy and humour accompanied on instruments unique to their country.

Hide AdThe tour takes place against a background of deepening financial and social crisis in the Ukraine as civil war rages in the Donbass region where the infrastructure has been virtually destroyed, the casualty rate is soaring and nearly 2m people have been displaced.
