Josh Marshall, 24, is funding his own three-month trip to the States, looking in-depth at unique parts of the county’s culture, such as muscle cars, the right to bear arms, and rap music.

He said: “I really love exploring different cultures and whereas most other travel shows look geographically at a country, I want to look at what goes on there.

“I’ve found that many people can say what the popular nuances of a country are, but they don’t really understand them, and that’s what I want to look at.”

Josh, originally from Marple, near Stockport, has cold-called many American organisations and managed to confirmed contributors for the show including Nascar, Burger and bourbon chain Plan B, and gun manufacturer Smith and Wesson.

Each episode will be 15-20 minutes long, focusing on one subject, and will be shot in full broadcast quality HD.

Josh has bought a DSLR filming kit, and although he will be doing most of the filming work himself, hopes to work with some university students, who can record him interviewing subjects.

He added: “I did a lot of volunteering with local TV station Lancashire One when I was a student, and I leaned a massive amount from them, including presenting big events like Preston Passion.

“I hope that I might be able to give something back to other students while I complete this.”

Josh’s determination to travel the world was spurred on after getting down to the final two in castings to present the World Rally Championship last year.

The episodes will be broadcast on YouTube, but Josh hopes that he will be able to sell them to a network.
