Gospel singer’s date for disabilities
A Chorley-born gospel singer is returning to the North West for an Evening of Celebration.
Godfrey Birtill tours extensively throughout the UK and abroad leading worship and preaching the gospel.
His latest travels will bring him to Warrington tonight to perform at Walton Hall Gardens as part of Warrington Disability Partnership’s DAD Week, a precursor to Disability Awareness Day on Sunday, July 13. His performance – appropriately dubbed An Evening of Celebration – starts at 7pm. Admission is free.
Godfrey said: “I have been travelling full-time preaching the gospel since March 1998.
“Before I went on the road I worked as a press photographer. I enjoyed my job very much, but what I do now gives me an enormous sense of joy and happiness.”
He has four children and has recently become a granddad for the seventh time.
Godfrey has released 16 live CDs and two studio CDs – plus a bonus DVD with the R U Ready? album. His songs include Outrageous Grace, Are You Ready? and Just One Touch From The King, which was voted the CBC Praise and Worship Song of the Year in 2008.
One of Godfrey’s primary musical influences is The Kinks’ Ray Davies.
