Give these teen rockers a Wave

Hailing from the aforementioned resort, The Blue Waves are a young indie rock band looking to change that with a wee jaunt around Lancashire in the next few weeks.

Formed a year ago, the lads have been busy recording demos and gigging.

“We’ve been playing all over the place,” said singer/guitarist George Edmondson (18).

“We have a few tracks on SoundCloud. We recorded seven demos, six months ago and have been playing them live ever since.

“We’re looking to expand out, really, play more gigs around the country and try and raise our profile.”

George is joined in the band by bassist Will Easton (17), drummer Elliot Gasper (17) and Lewis Irving (17).

The band, whose influences include Oasis, Paul Weller, and Arctic Monkeys, play the Belle Vue in Blackpool tomorrow (October 25), the Grapevine in Poulton on November 6, the Billington, Blackpool, on November 15 and Preston’s Ferret on November 21.

Playing gigs in Blackpool is a notorious rite of passage for up-and-coming bands, lost in a cacophony of slots and stags. Pubs want punters and that inevitably means the bands must play covers.

“When we started out we played a lot of covers,” said George.

“We wanted to move on from that quickly, though we still throw the odd one in.”
