Food, drink, folk and fun

There will be performances from local artists including Jay Diggins, Joe McCorriston, Mark Dennis, Megan S, Lune Valley Jazz Band, Jenny Brierley, Tracey and Johnny Scott, David Hanmar and Thistle.

The afternoon of music on the main field and will be alongside a beer tent, craft stalls, hog roast and children’s games.

Free to attend, this is a brand new outdoor festival for Scorton and a chance to eat, drink and be merry.

Elsewhere in the festival will be a touching World War One exhibition at St Peter’s Church.

A bunker from this terrible conflict has been designed and constructed to show life in the war. In the church there will be more than 30 different tableaux depicting themes, and historical details of loved ones, some who died and some who lived, including a special feature of those listed on the cenotaph.

One resident, whose grandfather appears in a tableau, has kindly lent about 20 artefacts from the era including a radio receiver, a trench periscope, a shovel, a box of ammunition, a cap, a hat, a bayonet sheath, a pair of boots, a crutch, a coat, and a helmet to mention but a few

The church will be decorated with an incredible mile of knitted bunting, kindly donated by local knitters.

The church will be open daily from 10-4pm during the festival (3-5 May).
