Lancashire firefighters rushed to the set at Lee Quarry, off the A681 near Bacup, on Thursday afternoon after a member of the public reported seeing smoke rising from filming area.

But after arriving at the entrance to the set, film crews assured the fire service that everything was under control and the smoke was part of the filming.

"The crew went and did a precautionary check and it turned out to just be the film crew for the show thankfully."

Fire crews did not reveal what had caused the smoke, as the Peaky Blinders team remain tight-lipped about the twists and turns of its sixth and final series.

Peaky Blinders have been filming in Lancashire for the past month, with star Cilian Murphy spotted filming the BBC gangster drama in Bacup this week.
