Discover how the colour blue was invented at arts festival

The Street Gallery is in business windows and the flags are up, making everything bright and cheerful.

Last minute plans are still coming together to provide some great activities on Saturday, July 5.

There will be lots of stalls around the town and also on platform 1 on the station too.

The public can have a browse at some fabulous hand-made crafts and stunning art work.

There will a one-man band to keep people entertained and also live performances throughout the day.

Guitarist Collin Hemdra, Spanish guitarist Howard Haigh and singers Courtney Simmons Brown and Amy Jo Clough will be performing at the war memorial.

As well as the stalls, the library will be holding children’s craft activities in the morning – all relating to Elmer the Elephant – plus ArtyBird Carnforth will be having an Indigo Dye Vat, where you can learn how the colour blue was achieved in ancient times.

The Painted Bean will be hosting all kinds of vintage games, as well as announcing the winner of their colouring competition.

Kitty Brown Boutique is also inviting people to go and make their very own veggie friend, with prizes on offer for the best two.

Don’t forget to do the Art Trail too. It’s free to enter and you could win a fabulous ‘From Carnforth’ hamper, which has been donated by local businesses.
