The incredibly talented singer-songwriter, whose meteoric rise has included an award-winning video and some serious Radio 1 airplay for catchy single Focus, is back in October. Keen came to the city back in April, performing in 53 Degrees’ intimate ‘Dark Room’ venue.

His warm-hearted songs and witty stage presence went down so well that he now
returns to play the larger ‘club’ venue.

Since then, he’s been won a legion of new fans on a massive arena tour with X-Factor winner Leona Lewis, and now heads back in Preston, bringing his distinctive rhythmic finger-picking style to 53 Degrees’ larger Club Room.

Born in South Devon, Keen has been playing guitar since his eighth birthday. His unique percussive style truly makes him stand out from the crowd. Ryan might write emotionally-driven music with warm lyrics and sunny melodies, but it’s his guitar playing that’s really special, combining electric, acoustic, classical and even flamenco styles.

Those who’ve caught him live have championed the diverse range of influences in Keen’s music, which combines the best of BB King, Buena Vista Social Club and Bert Jansch with the anthemic hands-in-the-air hit making of Coldplay.

In he picked up the prestigious Limelight Award for a quirky video directed by innovative stop-motion animator Andy Shackleford.

Ryan Keen is at 53 Degrees Tuesday, October 8. Tickets cost £8 in advance.
