The pledge came from Taylor Wimpey North West and will assist in the build of a brand-new, floodlit AstroTurf pitch that will be the new home for Garstang Hockey Club.

Tracey Jones, business development manager at Garstang Community Academy, said: “We’re thrilled to have received such a generous donation from Taylor Wimpey.

"It’s contributions such as these that allow us to continue providing the state-of-the-art facilities and services that people within the local community come to rely on and deserve.

“Our facility will be hugely important to the social interaction, not to mention health and fitness, of our pupils and wider community.

"On behalf of everybody at Garstang Community Academy I’d like to extend our thanks to Taylor Wimpey and look forward to working together in the future.”

Garstang Community Academy’s new facility will be unveiled later in the year to coincide with its 60th anniversary.

Stuart Craig, head of sales for Taylor Wimpey North West, added: “With a number of families and children living on our developments across Lancashire, we’re only too happy to support and elevate the fantastic work the Garstang Community Academy is doing for the younger generation.

“We recognise just how important the skills the children learn are for later life and hope this contribution will help in some way.”
