Cactus Knife are Mad Ferret

A head of their UK tour, the Michael Ainsley Band, from Wakefield, who have toured with big bands such as The Presidents of the United States of America, The Cribs and The Buzzcocks, will be appearing for the first time at The Ferret, Fylde Road, Preston, on Saturday, March 22.

Chorley rock band, Cactus Knife, who offer hypnotic, driving rock with bits of surf and psych thrown in, will play support alongside openers, Kusanagi, a four piece instrumental-rock band from Liverpool, who mix a healthy dose of melodic math-rock combined with powerful passages of the post rock genre.

Cactus Knife guitarist, 22-year-old Mike Whalley, said: “The gig should be pretty good.

“We’ve played at The Ferret quite a few times and it’s always great.”

Mike is joined by bandmates, singer and guitarist Bobby, drummer, Sam and bassist Gaff, and the band, who have been together since February 2011, are hoping to bring a large fanbase with them on March 22.

He said: “We like to bring a bit of a following with us, laying minibuses on and driving numbers to our gigs. We’re trying to earn a living from the band now and hopefully one day we can make it a full-time thing.”

The Michael Ainsley Band will head out on their first national tour, which was part funded by their fans’ Kickstarter campaign, before returning to the studio to work on their third album due for release this autumn.

The music starts at 8pm and entry is free.
