Beer, sausages and music

Live bands will provide the musical soundtrack to a beer and sausage festival at Whittingham Sports and Social Club next weekend.

This year’s festival, again organised by Preston North Rotary Club, follows the success of the inaugural 2013 event.

Just like last year, proceeds will go to several local charities.

It promises to be a sizzling weekend for those who like their beer with a banger.

As well as 50 hand-pulled beers and ciders, organisers say there will be an even bigger selection of Johnson’s Goosnargh sausages. The weekend starts 7pm on Friday, May 2, with live music from Blackpool-based band The Heat.

On Saturday, May 3, the festival runs from 1pm to 11pm. Acoustic band Cartoon Food, from Fleetwood, will play in the afternoon, followed by Preston-based Junction 31.

The Rockits, resident band from Liverpool’s world-famous Cavern Club, will play 60s music from 1pm on Sunday and Preston band Off the Rails, right, round off Sunday night.

Entry for the whole weekend costs £3.
