The Harris Museum, in Preston, offers another chance to experience their activity day, The Potter’s Apprentice, tomorrow.

From 1.30pm to 3.30pm, children aged between five and 12 years old can learn to make their own pots, and also to complete the kind of tasks that the town’s child workers would have been given in bygone days.

The Victorian mills, like those on which modern day Preston was founded, depended on child labour and this day gives a real insight into their working lives and the dangers they faced.

Entry to the Potter’s Apprentice is free, and there is no need to book your place in advance, simply drop in to the museum.
