Heading up the bill are two guests from the Preston Poets Society, including their president Vincent Smith and published poet Martin Domleo.

This is the third Bohemia Poetry Night and the event is already gathering a lot of momentum among Preston’s literary crowd.

Hackney based poet Abdulhai Dawood, who is already a familiar face at these new poetry events, may be airing a controversial new piece inspired by predatory males whose Saturday night revolves around taking advantage of drunk women.

Also performing will be Marleen Rinaldi, from the University of Central Lancashire, performance poet James Diable and observational poet Irene Flack.

Benjamin Rivers Fletcher, who was one of the original members of the groundbreaking 4Poets Project who write and perform experimental poetry in this area, will be giving a reading of some of his work.

And Preston poet Crafty Artist will be reciting some of his observational poetry, filled with his personal reflections on life

Bowland poet William Michael Neary, already very popular with the nascent Bohemia Poetry Night regulars, will be offering a few words of wisdom and Dean Fraser will be giving us a little Quantum spirituality.

The night goes ahead at the Beautiful Planet cafe, in Friargate, Preston and entry will be free.

The event, which began as a spin off from the cafe’s hugely popular Bohemia Music Nights, first opened its doors in March this year, with a second night held last month.

The aim is to encourage and showcase local literary talent in the same way that Bohemia Music Nights give local musicians the chance to air their compositions

The show starts at 8pm with poets performing both inside and in the cafe’s covered rear yard.

And, if you’re not on the bill, you could still get your work heard - as organisers will be throwing open the mic during the interval to encourage new and aspiring wordsmiths to take the leap.

Doors open at 8pm on Thursday May 9. Entry is free.
