There’ are two very different treats lined up for the older film buff at the Journey Café in The Dukes over the next few weeks.
WrinklesWrinkles
Wrinkles

Wrinkles, which will be screened on May 13, is a poignant animation about a friendship between residents at a Spanish nursing home while An American In Paris, on June 2, is a classic musical starring Gene Kelly.

Both films will be shown at 2pm and are open to everyone, though they have been specially programmed for people with dementia and their families.

Some changes will be made to lighting and sound to ensure that a comfortable environment is created.

The screenings are a popular feature of Journeying Together, a partnership project between Age UK Lancashire and The Dukes, supported by Joseph A Jones Solicitors and the Elspeth J. Thompson Charitable Trust as part of a national drive towards creating dementia-friendly communities.

Before the films begin, free tea/coffee and pastries are available in The Dukes foyer for all ticket holders which provides the chance for a social get-together.

Tickets for each film are £4 including tea/coffee and a pastry. An accompanying carer/family member goes free.
