.44 Pistol are shooting stars
.44 Pistol, BJ’s Rock in the Blues Club, The Minstrel at Eaves Green
The fabulous talented trio, .44 Pistol, travelled from the Stafford area to entertain the faithful here at BJ’s in Chorley.
If you like your blues a bit raw and edgy and in your face, with no frills then this Mississippi Blues trio is right up your street.
They pride themselves on taking a classic blues number say Smoke Stack Lightening, and then give it the .44 Pistol treatment and the concept is very entertaining indeed.
Pete Wearn frontman and founder of the band on lead vocal, slide guitar and blues harp was outstanding, his energetic style is a must see, at one point he stood on top of a table playing his harmonica at full tilt a lung buster indeed, just brilliant.
Ash Jones on lead guitar and backing vocal has a more laid back approach but his sizzling guitar playing is extraordinary none the less.
Lastly on drums is Mick Askey he keeps the tempo hot and heavy and with no bass player does the job admirably.
The band’s two sets were all classic numbers, the likes of Shake Your Money Maker, Baby Please Don’t Go, Who Do You Love, What I’d Say, Got Love if You Want It, Got My Mojo Working, all classic numbers with a canny twist.
The crowd shouted and whistled for more the dancers were out in force and a good Mississippi Blues experience was had by all.
.44 Pistol were absolutely smoking.
