Scott Fitzgerald's hand injury means clash with Anthony Fowler will have to wait until 2019
The Preston boxer broke a bone in his right hand during his dramatic final-round stoppage victory over Craig Morris last time out in September.

Like Fitzgerald, the Liverpudlian won gold at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games and has made a fast start in the paid ranks.
But an eagerly-anticipated super-welterweight meeting, tentatively pencilled in for December, will now have to wait until 2019.
Fowler improved his unbeaten record to 8-0 with a fifth round knockout of Gabor Gorbics in Newcastle on Saturday night and could now challenge Commonwealth champion, Australia’s Michael Zerafa, before the year is out.

“He’s broken his hand but is still in the gym a couple of times a week at the moment.
“He’s just ticking over and keeping himself in good shape.”
Fitzgerald was given a real scare by Morris on the undercard of Amir Khan’s win over Samuel Vargas in Birmingham.
Plenty of observers ringside, and watching live on Sky Sports, had the Shropshire man in front before Fitzgerald pulled it out of the bag in the dying embers of the fight.

Fitzgerald will hope the Scouser gets his hands on the Commonwealth title meaning he could have the chance to land a major strap early in the new year.
Elsewhere at Jennings Gym, Eccleston’s Mark Jeffers will fight again before the end of the year.
The unbeaten middleweight will be in action at Bolton Wanderers’ University of Bolton Stadium on December 8 as he looks to further improve his 8-0 record.

Trainers Michael and Dave Jennings are also waiting on a date for Kirkham’s Adam
Little who has not fought since stopping Morecambe’s Reece MacMillan at Liverpool’s Arena back in September 2017.
An issue with a medical saw his licence temporarily revoked by the British Boxing Board of Control but he has now been cleared to fight again.
