Free wi-fi for all visitors at Town Hall

Preston visiters will be fully connected from today, after free wi-fi at the Town Hall was switched on.

Anyone visiting the Town Hall from today will have access to the free wi-fi, run by Purple Wi-Fi.

Visitors can log in via their Facebook or Twitter accounts and complete a short registration process.

Councillor Martyn Rawlinson, Cabinet member for resources, said: “We are continuously working to help our customers and by offering free Wi-Fi this is yet another example.

“By providing this free service, residents and visitors can complete their business faster and more conveniently whilst in the Town Hall.”

The council hopes that this will make accessing documents easier for people attending public meetings.

It follows proposals for the rollout of free wi-fi at the Harris Museum.

Mark Whittle, manager of PrestonBID , said: “It’s good news that in this technology-led age that the city is providing a modern solution to visitors.”
