Battling 10-man Bamber Bridge were unable to topple NPL First Division North leaders Farsley Celtic as they went down to a 5-2 defeat at Throstle Nest.

The home side took an early lead when Adam Clayton headed home and it was soon 2-0 as Paul Walker slotted past Steve James in the Brig goal.

Richard Marshalllooked set to make it 3-0 but James was able to make the save.

Brig began to grow into the game and played the better football.

However disater struck shortly after half-time when James was red carded for tripping Walker and Marshall converted the penalty to make it 3-0.

Brig immediately got back into the game as Sam Freakes’ cross was nodded home by Alistair Waddecar.

However, Farsley restored their three-goal cushion when Jordan Deacey rounded stand-in keeper Matt Lawlor and slotted into the empty net.

Stuart Vasey pulled a goal back after Milligan ball into the box but Lewis Nightingale made it 5-2. Vasey added a third in time added on from Milligan’s free-kick.

Elsewhere in the division, second-placed Lancaster City kept up the pressure on Celtic thanks to a narrow 1-0 win at home to Tadcaster Albion.

Ryan Winder solitary goal in the 14th minute proved to be enough for all three points at Giant Axe. Joshua Draycott’s late equaliser earned Kendal Town a 1-1 draw at Brighouse.
