Severe weather warnings are in place across Lancashire as forecasters predict torrential rain.
The alert comes just a few weeks after rain caused flooding in the Lostock Hall, Penwortham and Broadgate areas of Preston.
Thousands of pounds worth of damage was caused as water from drains gushed into gardens and under doors in part of Leyland
Road, Penwortham, near Marshall's Brow, and Coote Lane, Lostock Hall, after just 45 minutes of heavy rainfall.
Sammy Gregson, 19, a beauty therapist at the Nail Box salon in Leyland Road, Penwortham, said they were preparing for this weekend's weather.
She said: "The laminate floor was ruined in the floods a few weeks ago.
"Business is back to normal but we are waiting for a new floor.
"We've got sandbags which we might put by the doors if it rains heavily. Hopefully, it won't happen again."
Julian Mayes, senior meteorologist at MeteoGroupUK, said: "The weather over the UK will remain very unsettled over the coming seven days, with further rain on most if not all days.
"The total rainfall over the last two weeks in the country is nothing short of exceptional.''
Flood plain housing plan slammedThe Met Office has forecast unsettled conditions and heavy rain is expected on Saturday and Sunday.
Although there's not much anyone can do about the rainfall, there are measures people can take to limit damage.
Phil Rothwell, head of Flood Defence Policy at the Environment Agency, says: "Make sure you know where your gas, electricity and water mains are in advance of a flood, store all electrical items as high up as possible and, perhaps, think about permanently moving sentimental items upstairs so that you do not forget to move them if a flood happens.
"Remember to keep important personal documents in a sealed bag and in a location safe from floodwater, and move your car to higher ground to avoid damage.
"If your home has a high risk of flooding it is a good idea to have your own supply of sandbags which you can get from a builders' merchant.''
There are several different flood protection products on the market and many products can be installed in advance and then simply clipped on and off when needed, such as the flood board or air brick cover.
