Sleepwalkers in onesies are wanted as Derian House launches its new night-time walk to raise funds.
Sleepwalk under the Stars is the latest part of the Derian Dreams Campaign, which aims to provide every hospice family with the opportunity to access respite care and the chance to get a good night’s sleep.
Starting at 10pm from Astley Park on Saturday September 17, this 10K route will take participants on a magical walk around Euxton, Buckshaw Village, Botany Brow, Cowling and Chorley, before returning to Astley Park for a midnight feast.
There will be an amazing atmosphere on this celebratory walk for Derian House, so come and join the wonderful team walking for Derian.
The walk will begin from the Walled Garden in Astley Park and will be stewarded throughout.
Hospice volunteers will provide fund-raisers with lots of information about preparing for the walk, including how to structure a fitness programme, suitable shoes and clothing for the walk, as well as what to bring on the night.
Susie Poppitt, head of fund-raising at Derian House, said: “We’ll give you all the support you need to help us raise as much money as possible for Derian House, and at the same time have a fantastic time taking part in this exciting event.
“The Sleepwalk is open to everyone, with specific guidelines for young people under 16 years of age, so you can enter with your friends, family, college or workmates.
“Whether you’re young or not so young, male or female, families or individuals, we will look forward to welcoming you to this amazing event. We hope to raise more than £15,000 for Derian House during this excellent two-year Derian Dreams Campaign.
“We need your help to make it such a success. Get out those onesies, join the Dream Team, and help us raise vital funds for Derian House.”
For a registration pack, contact the fund-raising team on 01257 271271 who will send the details by post.
Early bird entry before July 17 is £15 or £20 afterwards. A junior entry is £10.
Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

As part of the Derian Dreams theme, the charity has also released a CD - Derian Dreams Bedtime Story Collection - with stories read by celebrities.
The audio book is available as a digital download for £7.99 from ITunes and can be purchased as a CD from the Derian House by calling John on 01257 271271.
Derian House, in Chorley, is also looking for stores who would stock the collection for the hospice, which supports children with life limiting illnesses.
