Casualty taken to hospital after crash in Riversway

The crash happened at around 11.30am and police have closed a stretch of Riversway whilst ambulance crews worked at the scene.
Police said two cars - a white Volkswagen and a black car - were involved in the crash, which has led to traffic delays along Riversway towards the Pedders Way junction for McDonald's at Preston Docks.

Hide AdPictures from the scene show extensive damage to both cars, with the Volkswagen mounting the pavement and smashing into a traffic sign.
Fire crews also attended to make the scene safe and prevent any sudden combustion.
A police spokesman said: "We were called at around 11.30am to reports of a minor injury collision on Riversway in Ashton.
"Two cars involved and it looks like the road is blocked.
"Ambulance also on scene but not clear on injuries."
The driver of one of the vehicles has been taken to Royal Preston Hospital with minor injuries.

Hide AdAn ambulance service spokesman said: "We were called at 11.28am to reports of the road traffic collision in Riversway.
"Two ambulances and a response car arrived on scene.
"We’ve taken one patient to hospital with minor injuries."
Recovery crews are now at the scene.
Fire crews from Penwortham and Fulwood attended and rescued one person who was trapped inside one of the car wrecks.
A fire service spokesman said: "Two vehicles were involved and there was a trapped casualty too. Two casualties were treated by paramedics at the scene and a further two refused hospital treatment.
"Firefighters made the scene safe and were in attendance around forty minutes."
