Jim Noblett, Mike Stones, Mike Doyle, Tony Jackson and John Wilson recently celebrated their 70th birthdays with a party at Penwortham Golf Club, but instead of presents and cards, they asked their guests to make a donation to the Lostock Hall hospice, which supports terminally ill patients.Jim, a father-of-three from Penwortham, who is a long-standing member of the club, said: “The night was a great success, with 122 of our friends and family enthusiastically joining us in the celebration. “Amongst the group we have had family members and friends who have benefited from the wonderful services and support offered by St Catherine’s. There was no hesitation in selecting the hospice to receive the donation.”St Catherine’s fund-raiser, Hayley Jackson, was delighted with the gesture. She said: “We’re extremely grateful to Jim and his friends for making the generous donation of £675 to the hospice. “With their support we can continue providing care and support to local people when it matters most.”
