A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempting to murder a police officer in Lancaster.

At around 1.40pm on March 30, officers attempted to stop a car in Quernmore Road.

A police spokesman said that during the incident a Vauxhall Corsa was involved in a collision with a police car, and an officer suffered hand injuries.

The officer was on foot at the time of the incident.

The driver of the Corsa was detained at the scene, while the officer, a PC, was treated at hospital.

He has since been discharged.

A man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is currently in custody.
