A man in his 40s has been taken to hospital after suffering serious injuries after a crash earlier this morning.

Lancashire Police are appealing for witnesses and footage following a collision on Golden Way, Penwortham in which the cyclist suffered serious injuries.

A spokesperson for the police said: "Our officers were called at 12.52am today (28th March) to Golden Way, Penwortham – near to Liverpool Road - to a report of a road traffic collision involving a Ford C-Max car and a bicycle both travelling in the direction of Preston.

Sgt Martin Kavanagh of Lancashire Police’s Road Policing Unit, said: “The cyclist suffered serious injuries and our thoughts are with him as he undergoes treatment in hospital."

If anyone witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage from Golden Way around the time it happened they are asked to call 101, quoting log 0028 of 28th March 2024, or email the serious collision investigation unit at [email protected].
