Police have stepped up patrols around Moor Park after reports of youngsters throwing stones at buses and cars.

Anti-social behaviour has been reported at the skate park, with councillors also raising concerns about an attack in the area.

Coun Robert Boswell, cabinet member for community and environment, said the council was doing “what we can”.

Three buses had to be taken off the road on Tuesday because windows were smashed as they drove past the skate park.

And a 13-year-old boy was attacked, twice, this month at the skate park, but police say it was in relation to a dispute between two boys, and not related to the anti-social behaviour and stone throwing.

Sgt Anne Otter from Preston Police said officers were aware of incidents involving youths throwing stones.

She said: “We have identified and spoken with a number of youths, however, we have had a small number of incidents reported to us since then.”

She encouraged anyone with concerns to call 101.
