An intruder who sneaked into the staff area of a pet shop and stole cigarettes has been given a 12 week jail term, suspended for a year.

Philip Lewis, of no fixed abode, had denied a charge of burglary, but was found guilty after a trial before Preston Magistrates’ Court.

The court heard on August 4 this year, the 45-year-old entered Brett’s Pets in Chorley and got into a communal area.
