Sky Den, Calvert Trust Kielder, Northumberland

A star of the second TV series of George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces on Channel 4, The Sky Den treehouse makes an unusual base for self-catering holidaymakers.

Built by William Hardie Designs, with quirky suggestions from Clarke himself, the shape-themed Sky Den treehouse is set in the heart of Northumberland’s Kielder Water and Forest Park.

It has a ‘square’ as its central point and main living space, with glass doors opening onto a wide balcony and views of the river below.

Interior space also includes a kitchen, wet room and a host of fold-away furniture.

In the ‘circle’, a simple viewpoint of corrugated iron, you can have a picnic and brew up a cuppa over the wood-burning stove, and in the ‘triangle’ loft space, you can open the whole roof up to the Northumberland Dark Skies at the push of a button. A great and beautiful base for wildlife lovers and adventure-seeking families alike.
