A youngster who underwent treatment in America to beat an aggressive form of cancer is now in Mexico having treatment to boost his immune system.
Corey Ashcroft, three, of Sagar Street, Eccleston, near Chorley, is currently in Mexico with his family having alternative treatment to build up his strength after a year of fighting cancer.
Corey, who was suddenly diagnosed with neuroblastoma in April last year, spent five months in America having immunotherapy treatment at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia after a fundraising campaign raised more than £300,000 to send him there.
Corey’s family recently celebrated after scans revealed that the treatment had been a success and Corey is now cancer free.
However, the family decided to fly to Mexico and take Corey to the Hope 4 Cancer centre in Tijuana for a holistic treatment designed to get his body strong again after everything he has been through.
Speaking from Mexico, dad Craig said: “We decided to have this treatment for Corey after speaking to other families of children with neuroblastoma.
“We want to do everything possible to give Corey the best possible chance.
“We were thrilled when the scans showed that the treatment worked and that Corey is clear of cancer.
“Now we want to get Corey strong again after all the treatment he has had.”
While they are in Mexico, Corey, his dad Craig, mum Joanna and five-year-old brother Kian are enjoying a family holiday.
Joanna is 20-weeks pregnant with her third child, a little girl who was conceived while the family were living in America.
