North End fans can circle Tuesday, August 4, in their diaries as the date for a potential Championship play-off final at Wembley.

The EFL have announced the scheduled semi-final and final dates for the battle to reach the Premier League.

And sixth-placed Preston will have their eye on an end-of-season shoot-out berth, with all five play-off fixtures to be televised live on Sky Sports.

The semi-finals will take place over five days in July, with the final to take place at Wembley Stadium on August 4.

Preston begin their bid to reach the play-offs at Luton Town on Saturday, as the Championship season resumes after the Covid-19 pandemic caused a halt back in March.

The play-off schedule is as follows:

First legs – Sunday, 26 July: 6th v 3rd, 6.30pm; Monday, 27 July: 5th v 4th, 7.45pm.

Second legs – Wednesday, 29 July: 3rd v 6th, 7.45pm; Thursday, 30 July: 4th v 5th, 7.45pm.

Final (Wembley Stadium): Tuesday, 4 August, 7.45pm.
