Popular takeaway finds a new home after old building destroyed in fire
Sandos takeaway in Church Street had its roof almost completely destroyed at the start of May, 2016, after a huge fire threatened to bring it to the ground.
And despite building inspectors from Preston City Council deeming it to be structurally sound and not in need of demolition, the business has moved down the road.

With the added title of ‘The Flaming Taste’ a sign in the window says ‘opening soon’.
A Preston Council spokesman confirmed the takeaway, formerly at 124 Church Street, had moved down the street and said: “We can confirm registration of the company from Sandos and that everything is proceeding as expected for a new business and we are looking forward to working with them.
The council spokesman said the registration meant the business could open whenever the owners were ready.

The old building still stands empty and under repair after the blaze.
A Lancashire Fire Service spokesman said: “An investigation into the cause of the fire was inconclusive but the fire service believe the blaze was caused by an electrical fault. The fire service’s investigation into the fire has now closed.”
