A 46-year-old man has been charged with coercive behaviour towards his wife and destroying a man’s mobile phone.

Silica Cobzaru, 46, of Acregate Lane, is accused of purposely destroying a mobile phone belonging to Alex Cobzaru on April 30 this year. A plea of not guilty or none given was entered at a previous hearing at Preston Magistrates Court on May 2. He is also accused of repeated controlling or coercive behaviour towards his wife at the time Marianna Cobzaru.

Between October 1, 2020 and April 30 this year, he is accused of assaulting her on April 30 this year occasioning actual bodily harm, and between the other periods, controlling her finances, disallowing her a mobile phone, choosing what clothing she wore as well as destroying some, and would not allow her out of the house alone. He entered a plea of not guilty on May 2 and has been remanded in custody until a Preston Crown Court appearance on Tuesday, May 23.
