Bin collections problems in Chorley due to driver shortages: this is how to find out if you're affected

Yesterday (August 23), Chorley Council announced they were experiencing some problems with bin collection delays this week due to driver shortages.

On Facebook, the council said: “Please be aware that we are experiencing some problems with delays to bin collections due to driver shortages. We would like to ask residents for their patience and to please bear with us until this issue is resolved. We are doing all we can, in conjunction with our waste partner, to get additional staff and residents are asked to leave out their missed bins and they will be collected as soon as possible. We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused. Please visit our website for information on who is affected.”

Which services are affected?

Chorley Council say that green, blue and brown bin collections are operating normally.

However, there are some delays to garden waste (grey bin) collections.

The website currently only lists the roads affected last week, but may be updated in the coming days to confirm this week’s list.

What should you do if you live in Chorley?

The council says you should still put your bin out as normal this week.

If you want to check if your bin is one of the affected roads this week, call customer service at Chorley Council who will be able to tell you.

What should you do if your bin is not collected?

Chorley Council said: “Please do not report a missed bin collection, as we are already aware and aim to rectify this as soon as possible. Please leave your bin at the collection point. We are sorry for any inconvenience these delays may cause.”
