Police want witnesses to a serious car crash at the weekend to come forward.

At 3pm on Sunday, August 7, a Renault Grande Scenic was travelling south along Leyland Road at the junction with Coote Lane when it was involved in a collision with a Hyundai Tucson travelling in the opposite direction.

The Hyundai was pushed forward and collided with a Peugeot 206 which then collided with a Mini.

The driver of the Renault, a 60-year-old woman, was taken to Royal Preston Hospital for treatment after suffering chest injuries.

PS John Jennings-Wharton of the Road Policing Unit said: “An investigation into how this collision occurred is underway and I would appeal to anyone who may have seen the Renault Grande Scenic prior to the collision to contact us.

“I would also urge anyone who witnessed the collision and has not yet spoken to us to get in touch.”

Anyone with information can contact police on 101 quoting log 911 of August 7.
