A well-known Indian restaurant is to reopen next week after a turbulent past year.

Naaz Indian Cuisine in Club Street, Bamber Bridge, shut its doors in April 2017, after more than 25 years in business. It then traded briefly as Spice Symphony, under new management, but has been closed for much of the past 12 months.

Now, on Wednesday, original owner Dilshad Miah will reopen the eaterie as Dilnaz. He has carried out a host of refurbishments and satisfied South Ribble Council over alcohol licensing queries.

The licensing panel were told the renewal fee for the licence had gone unpaid for over seven months and that there were concerns about the “opaque” management structure at the business.

Mr Miah said: “We have brought it back to the standard it was.

“We have carried out big renovations with new furniture, we have sorted out everything to do with the alcohol licence and and we’re looking forward to opening the doors again.”

Mr Miah said the decision to close the restaurant last year was partly due to a national shortage of curry chefs. He has now brought his wife and children into the business.
