Emergency services are on the scene of a “serious” crash near a major Preston road artery – which closed the road for nearly three hours.
The A59 has tonight been closed in both directions near the M6 Tickled Trout junction.
Police said it was a “serious road traffic collision” and were in the process of reopening the road at 10.30pm tonight.
The collision occured at around 7.30pm and both police and ambulance are on the scene.
Motorists have reported being turned away from the scene and there have been long delays along Brockholes Brow and New Hall Lane.
On the motorway, signs are telling drivers to avoid leaving the M6 at Junction 31 and heading towards Preston.
Around the same time as the A59 crash, a collision between several vehicles closed off the M6 southbound access from the M55.
Drivers were diverted up the M6 to junction 33 where they could then leave and head south. The slip road re-opened shortly before 10pm.
