People love a drink, and now you can get paid to enjoy one
1842 Bar and Restaurant, based at Preston’s old Corn Exchange on Lune Street, are advertising for an official gin taster for its new outdoors gin garden - and the advertisement has gone viral.
Claire Hannah, who works at 1842, said: “We are amazed at how it has exploded on social media! We’ve had so many likes, shares and comments.
“Everyone seems to love gin. It’s great to see this happening here in Preston.”
Since the job was put on Facebook it has received over 500 comments, likes and shares, and the numbers keep growing.
The successful candidate will be required to work weekends and special events at 1842’s new outdoors gin bar, The Rabbit Hole, as well as operating the bar’s social media accounts.
Not only that, but the new gin maestro will be expected to grow their own botanicals in the bar’s gin garden in the hope of creating their own brand of gin.
Claire, a former journalist of 15 years, said: “We’re looking for someone who loves gin or is willing to learn it.
“It’s a great chance to take ownership of your interests and skills.”
There is no need for a CV, with 1842 encouraging those interested to visit the bar to showcase their knowledge and skills.
The salary for the role is £14,000 and the application deadline is September 15.
This weekend sees 1842 host its Mad Hatters Gin Party - the city’s first gin festival with over 60 gins to taste.
