Hundreds of fundraisers pulled on their running shoes and lined up for a run around Avenham Park raising £1,000 for Heartbeat.
Now in its fourth year, the charities annual 2Km fun run was the biggest so far.
Petticoat Lane Fireplaces of Brook Street in Preston, sponsored the event for the first time. Owner, Terry Moss had travelled from a night time fell run in Yorkshire the night before to take part in the Run Preston event in the morning before finishing off a weekend of running by completing the 2k.
Mark Cassidy, Heartbeat NWCC Fundraising Officer said: “It was a great day, all of the runners were so inspiring! We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who took park, to Terry at Petticoat Lance Fireplaces for sponsoring the event and to Steve and the team at Run Preston who helped with organising the event.
“We can’t wait for next year’s run.”
Heartbeat NWCC support over 800 people every week across the North West who are living with heart disease.
By providing clinical support through exercise rehabilitation and lifestyle support the charity needs over £900,000 each year to keep running, all of which comes from fundraising events and voluntary donations.
