A bargain clothes shop says business has been “booming” since moving to Preston city centre.

Steals, which offers famous name brands at cut prices, opened in St George’s Shopping Centre on Saturday.

And after opening on the ground floor, store manager Denise Reader says things couldn’t have gone better in the last week.

“Steals used to have a store in Preston many years ago and it’s been a huge success since we’ve opened,” she said.

“St George’s and Preston is a brilliant location because you get people coming from all over for all different kinds of shops.

“Lots of people still don’t even know we’re here but the passing trade has been great.

“Once people realise we’re here, I think trade will really take off.”

Steals, which also has four stores in the Blackpool area, announced the opening on Facebook and received a huge reaction with 371 likes and 211 shares.

More than 750 people expressed their delight at the opening with hundreds tagging their friends.

Becky Oakes posted: “Looking fabulous!”

Heather Taylor tagged her three friends and wrote: “You should check this place out. The Blackpool one has some decent bargains in it if I recall correctly”.

And Denise who is originally from Hoghton near Chorley, said: “We’re really excited about opening here and the reaction online was really good.

“Being close to the train station is also great and we’re looking forward to meeting all our new Preston customers.”
