A personal trainer was able to invest in his dream job when a windfall of cash came his way.
Richard Smith-Leach, 30, was already a business partner at a gym when a series of events kickstarted his transition into opening his own personal training studio.
“I had been working for a friend about four years,” said Richard, whose new studio in Bretherton is called RiJu Holistic Health.
“He went off for a bit leaving me in charge and I realised I could do it. I was running the business and I knew that I wanted to do something myself. From there it all came about really quickly. My business partner came back, my family came into a little bit of money and I thought I could put this towards a personal training studio.”
Within a week Richard had found a studio space and before he knew it the landlord was saying the place was ready to go. Richard said: “I had to say goodbye to my business partner and I moved in at the end of August.
“I’ve had a couple of people who have followed me from my last job. I’ve got enough to keep me going so I’m slowly growing the business.”
Planners at Chorley Council gave the go-ahead for Richard to change the former offices in Carr House Lane into a Personal Training Studio this month.
