An author from Buckshaw Village has just released her second novel in a fantasy trilogy.
Alice Broadway, who released her debut Ink last year, has now launched her second in her Skinbooks series, Spark.
Winding down after her book tour, Alice said: “It’s been fairly mad but lovely.
“Spark is a follow-on from Ink. The main character is travelling into completely unknown territory and she’s about to meet the Blanks.
“It’s a book about having your perspective changed and understanding other people’s point of view.
“It came out on April 5 and we celebrated with a lovely launch party in Waterstones in Manchester. It was to celebrate and also to thank friends who helped me to get through the writing process.
“Last week I went to Newcastle, Liverpool and Birmingham doing panel events. It was really interesting talking with other authors. I did panels on feminism and fantasy books. Readers come along and they can ask questions and you get to meet them and sign books.
“I’ve also been going into schools which is no nice but I need to focus on some writing again now as I have to write the third book.”
Although Alice knows how the third novel, expected next year, will begin and end, she says the rest “is still up for grabs”.
She added: “The question most people ask me is what colour is the next book going to be and I don’t know yet, I’m thinking about doing a poll.”
Ink has been shortlisted for a number of awards since it was first published.
Spark is published by Scholastic and is available at Chorley’s independent book shop ebb & flo in Gillibrand Street.
