The Wheatsheaf hosts free Christmas dinner for locals

A pub landlord and landlady said a huge thank you to their loyal customers by hosting a free Christmas lunch.

Brian and Liz Luxton, who run The Wheatsheaf, in Ashton, laid on a three course meal, with champagne on arrival and singer Lee Anne to provide entertainment.Liz said: “Brian and I wanted to say thank you to the older people that come into the pub all year round and spend their money in here.“We have done this for eight years now and it has grown from just 10 people to now more than 50, as our pub gets busier and busier. “Brian was the chef and I worked front of house. It was a lovely day. We gave everyone a box of chocolates and they had free wine.“Everyone loved it and they look forward to it every year.”
